In class:
We read "Showdown at Noon" Scale Factor Story.

Students solved problems relating to scaling up or down.
Students participated in an activity requiring them to figure out the relationship between areas of similar figures.

Homework:
The cost of carpet is $1.50 per square foot. Predict what would happen to the total cost of carpeting a square room if you doubled the sides of the room. Would the cost double? Triple? ???

Show work to prove/disprove your prediction.

Include the following:
3 different sizes of square rooms and related data ( area, cost to carpet etc) drawn on graph paper.
If possible, organize the data into a table.
2 sentences describing the relationship between changing the side lengths of a room & area (cost)
