Learning Targets:

I can prove:

Circumference of a circle is "approximately" 3x length of the diameter for all circles.

Circumference/Diameter = "pi"  (approx= 3.14) which is a "ratio"

In class:

  • Revisited the "pi Scavenger hunt"
  • Mrs. White used "yarn" to demonstrate that approximately 3 diameters = circumference of a circle (pi = 3.14)
  • Used the relationship to predict circumference or diameter of a circle
  • Students began sharing their "Proportion Presentations"

Homework:
page 319 problems 13, 15, 17
page 283 problems 16 & 18

QUIZ TOMORROW:
  • Prove if 2 ratios form a proportion
  • Solve proportion problems for an unknown
  • (word problems similar to presentations in class)
