Thursday, November 2, 2012

Learning Target:
I can use ToonDo to create a real world example using integer operations (addition or subtraction)

In class:
Reviewed homework from Wednesday
Cleared up misunderstandings
Brainstormed real world examples of negative integers

Homework:
1) Go to http://www.toondoo.com
2) Set up a free account
3) Write down your user name and password & BRING TO CLASS tomorrow!
4) On paper write down "rough draft" (stick figures are fine) of a cartoon illustrating your understanding of ONE operation involving integers.

Cartoon Requirements:
  • 3 or 4 frames/boxes long
  • Involves ONE operation (adding, subtracting, multiplying or dividing integers)
  • Includes at least 1 negative integer
  • Illustrates a real-world example that makes sense!
  • Last frame includes the answer & explanation
Here are some real -world examples involving negative integers:

bank account, golf, owing $, lunch account,
changes in temperature, library fines, video games, scuba diving, submarines, negative football yards, sea-level, altitude (falling, plane landing etc), games (Jeopardy), losses on a stock, fixing a mistake when checking out at the grocery store/credit card etc...

GET CREATIVE!!!!----
