Fraction Operations Review Continues!!

This week we will focus on reviewing adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions and mixed numbers.  This is a challenging topic for many students.  Please practice your multiplication math facts to become more efficient at determining common denominators.  These topics are not covered in our math book, so we will be using handouts in packets.

In class:
Students received new packets for subtracting mixed #s, multiplying and dividing fractions
 
Introduced 2 methods for subtracting mixed numbers:
#1: "Borrow a Whole Pizza" method
#2:  Improper Fraction Method
For both methods:  Find a common denominator first to avoid: BIG, HAIRY, UGLY Numbers!

Homework:
  • Page 23 problems 6-8 on BOTH sides (6 problems)
Students earning LESS THAN  4/5 (80%) on their Warm-up please ADD:
  • Page 21B Problems 1-5

Hand out Learning Target Sheets
Students can cross out the  Learning Targets they have demonstrated mastery on (80% from Wed)
Work on problems for the remaining Learning Targets (5 problems for each target)
Students ONLY do EXTRA PRACTICE for Learning Targets showing less than 80% proficiency.

Homework:
Individualized-
